ADULT HEALTH NURSING
OVERVIEW:-
The Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing is dedicated to offering comprehensive courses focused on adult nursing and advanced nursing practices, all designed in accordance with the curriculum set forth by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). This department prioritises a student-centred approach to teaching and learning, providing a supportive environment that emphasises hands-on experience. This practical approach is instrumental in enhancing students confidence in their nursing knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes.
The faculty members are committed to facilitating the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for addressing the evolving needs of diverse patient populations. They recognize the significance of adapting to changes in patient demographics, the complexity of diseases, and advancements in healthcare technologies.
Clinical services offered by the department encompass a wide range of activities, including the clinical supervision of students, patient care, in-service education, and the organisation of awareness programs and health screenings. Additionally, the department engages in clinical administration and research initiatives. These services are provided across various areas of CSSH Hospital, such as general medical and surgical wards, outpatient departments, specialty wards, critical care units, intensive care units, operating rooms, and diagnostic and procedural areas.
The practice scope within medical-surgical nursing is firmly grounded in evidence-based approaches, particularly regarding procedural aspects and patient care. To build proficiency and confidence among students, critical procedures are practised using simulated patients, allowing them to gain the necessary skills before engaging with actual patients in clinical settings. Furthermore, the curriculum encompasses learning about adult health issues, including geriatrics, ensuring that students are thoroughly equipped to deliver comprehensive care to a wide array of patients.
