The incubates seeking for incubation can apply under the following categories-
LEVEL-1
Innovative ideas generated by the team of one or more faculty members, staff, students and alumni of this University or any other institute supported by this university.
LEVEL-2
A start-up company which is based on technology and is being promoted by the first generation entrepreneur with a wish of developing research and development tie-ups with this university.
LEVEL-3
Any small or medium-sized technology or R&D based company or a branch of an existing technology-based company looking forward to having a technological interface with Swami Vivekanand Subharti University.
Steps involved in incubation:
The researcher from any of the categories has to go through following steps -
STEP-1
Submission of pre-application form available with CRIC. This form has informationabout the promoters of the company or the founders as if they are involved in some other company too.
STEP-2
This information will be scrutinized by the CRIC staff and the applicant will be asked to submit a formal application.
The formal application will contain -
(1) A detailed business plan containing value proportions, product and services, market research of the product, a detailed review about existing competitors of the product in the market, amount of financial support required, the methodology to be adopted for developing the product, analysis of risk etc.
(2) Detailed information about the intellectual property or technology base of the proposed company. If the innovative idea is originally being executed at CRIC i.e. the technology/ product/IP is being originally developed at CRIC, the company has to take a letter of approval for transfer of technology/ license.
(3) The suitability of the business plan will be screened by entrepreneur and innovation cells ofCRIC. In case if the business plan fits with the standard of CRIC, it will be forwarded to the Joint Director of CRIC for further assessment.
(4) After a detailed assessment and on the recommendation of the Joint Director, formalpresentation and discussion is done before the decision-making committee of CRIC.
(4.1) For the proposed plan between 50,000-100000 INR, the internal selection committee takes the decision.
(4.2) For the proposed plan > 100000 INR, the selection committee may invite one or more than one (depending upon the worth of the proposal) experts from other academic/ industrial/ research organizations.
Presentation before the committee:
If the proposal qualifies the above steps, a meeting of the founders/ promoters will be organized with the University Research Council. The founder/ promoter/ incubate will be asked to give a detailed presentation of the idea before the committee. Based on the presentation and after satisfying all queries the committee, a decision to be accepted or rejected will be made.
Status of the application:
The decision of the committee will be conveyed to the researcher within 15 days. This kind of presentation will not be entertained through Skype/ Video conferencing or another virtual Mode.
Confidentiality:
CRIC will be careful about maintaining confidentiality throughout the application process but
CRIC will not sign any kind of no-disclosure document with any incubates in any situation.
Incubation agreement execution:
After the approval of proposal of applicant in the incubation centre, the applicant will need to sign following agreements
1. AGREEMENT OF INCUBATION: Under this agreement, the applicant will accept various terms and conditions as decided by CRIC. These conditions may be related to the utilization of infrastructure, the ratio of holding, intellectual property rights etc. This agreement shall apply to all applicants.
2. AGREEMENT OF SEED-FUND: It will cover the terms and conditions of disbursement as well as repayment of the seed money. This agreement will be applicable for all who seek seed money support from the Centre.
3. AGREEMENT OF COMMERCIALIZATION OF TECHNOLOGY: This agreement will be signed by those who seek to use technology or the intellectual property developed by or at CRIC and the campus of this University.
MENTORSHIP (MANDATORY)
Throughout the application of incubation, the applicant may keep utilizing the expertise as well as intellectual property and infrastructure of this University/CRIC. CRIC will permit the same only under a mentor who will be a faculty member of this University/CRIC. Hence, the incubate company will have to select one faculty member who will mentor the company throughout the process.
MENTORSHIP FROM INDUSTRY:
The applicant can also select an industrial mentor within six months of joining CRIC. These industrial mentors can be partner industries of CRIC. These industrial mentors will also be governed by the same regulations as of the internal mentors.
THE UTILITY OF RESOURCES
Once the process of admission is completed, the applicant company will have access to the infrastructure, required facilities, office space etc within 30 days. However, it is to make clear that applicants will have to pay the charges for utilizing infrastructure, intellectual property, facilities, office space etc. as decided by the university.
The general facilities which can be available for incubates at CRIC are-

c. Printers
d. Internet connection
e. Intercom connection
f. Furniture as per decided by the committee
g. Conference hall
INFRASTRUCTURE FROM THE HOST /PARTNER ORGANIZATION:
Although CRIC will let access institutional laboratories to the applicant but if needed, on the recommendation of the University Research Council, the partner institution/organization’s infrastructure can be used by the incubates on payment basis. However, for utilizing the infrastructure of partner organization consent from concerned department/ authority will be required.
INCUBATION PERIOD
The incubate companies will be allowed to stay at the CRIC campus for a maximum of 36 months. However, they may be granted an extension for a year in two terms of six months.
EXIT (GRADUATION):
1. On completion of three years, in case, if the extension is not granted.
2. On completion of 3.5 and 4 years (conditional if the extension is given).
3. For Medical/pharmacy companies, the incubation period can be extended up to a period of 6
years.
4. If CRIC finds a company to be underperformance or any misconduct with the
policy/regulations/ agreements.
5. Change of founders/ promoters without the agreement of CRIC.
6. Any unforeseen reason because of which CRIC wants the incubate company to leave.
7. When the yearly turnover of the company reached a certain turn over (Decided by CRIC)
8. In view of the above terms and conditions, the incubate companies are advised to keep
themselves updated with the CRIC policy.
