The term “midwife” literally means “with woman.” Although nurse-midwives are best known for their work during pregnancy and specifically labor and delivery, nurse midwives care for women’s health in a comprehensive way.
The Department of Maternal & Child Health Nursing is dedicated to enhancing the knowledge and skills of students in key areas, including Antenatal, Intra Natal, Post Natal, and Newborn care, in addition to their theoretical education. Our aim is to cultivate exemplary practitioners in the field of Maternal & Child Health Nursing.
The Maternal & Child Health Lab is comprehensively equipped with various articles, models, charts, and play therapy materials. In this lab, students engage in hands-on learning to master essential nursing care skills, including Antenatal Assessment, the management of Normal and Abnormal Labor, and Essential and Immediate Newborn Care.
Our department provides clinical and classroom instruction for undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma nursing students, ensuring a well-rounded and thorough education in Maternal & Child Health Nursing.
The teaching program in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and concepts central to gynecological nursing. It aims to help them acquire essential knowledge and develop professional skills for caring for mothers during pregnancy, childbirth, and related disorders, whether in a hospital setting or at home.
The faculty members in the department hold a strong belief in the capabilities of their nursing students, asserting that those trained in this discipline are not only proficient in their specialty but also adept at functioning effectively in various expanded roles. They are prepared to respond to the evolving needs of society and the healthcare delivery system, thereby contributing positively to their communities.
Additionally, the faculty recognizes the potential of their students to exhibit leadership qualities, enabling them to work in any gynecological department, both domestically and internationally. They understand that the training in obstetrics and gynecological nursing is instrumental in shaping nurses who possess the confidence, authority, and professional demeanor necessary to excel in all areas of nursing, ultimately fostering a positive professional image.
