Welcome to the Department of Physical Education at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University — proudly dedicated to the legacy of Major Dhyan Chand, the Wizard of Hockey.
Our department is, at its heart, a teacher training institution. Through our NCTE-recognised B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. programmes, we prepare the next generation of school, college, and university Physical Education teachers — graduates who go on to serve in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya schools, Sainik Schools, state government schools, and as Assistant Professors at colleges across India. Our B.P.E.S. programme builds the foundation; M.A. Yoga adds depth in wellness and yogic sciences; and our Ph.D. programme produces research scholars and academic leaders. Out of this same foundation also grow successful coaches, fitness trainers, sports administrators, and yoga therapists. Beyond the classroom, we are equally committed to keeping our students competing. The university provides every opportunity for our trainees to represent Subharti at All India Inter-University tournaments, state and national-level competitions, and to continue building their own athletic achievements while they study. A Subharti PE graduate doesn't choose between teaching and sport — both careers grow together here.
With experienced faculty trained at India's leading sports institutes, six specialised laboratories, a 250-acre sports campus, and an integrated curriculum that combines pedagogy with practical sport, we prepare graduates who are ready to teach, coach, train, and lead. As you explore our five programmes, I invite you to consider not just what you will study, but who you will become here. We look forward to welcoming you.
