Choosing a career is an important task, It may not be easy to decide what type of job will be the best fit and since career counselling helps students to assess their skills, needs and desires in order to find a career that works for them, this type of counselling is considered to be an important step to take before deciding on a permanent career.
Students have a lot of decisions to make while they are in college. These range from which courses to take up apart from their core subjects, to deciding which internships would benefit their career. As a matter of fact, almost every other choice that a student makes in college revolves around his/her plans after college, be it studying further or taking up a job. Deciding what to do after college has a significant impact on your immediate future as well as long term goals. This decision gets difficult because there are several factors that impact it, such as interests, costs, opportunities etc.
Career counselling plays a pivotal role to ensure that students don’t make a wrong decision at this crucial juncture in their life.

Functioning of University Career Counselling Cell (UCCC)
- Conducting monthly meetings of counsellors of constituent colleges on every Second Saturday in UCCC .Minutes of the meeting to be recorded by the Member, UCCC.
- Conducting Career Counselling sessions in the constituent colleges every month wherein the respective career counsellors will guide & solve the problems of the students pertaining to career. The strength of the discussion in sessions is that students can ask their queries. Students seek help from the experts during the sessions. Counsellors will motivate students in understanding the essential attributes for building a strong career.
- Keeping & maintaining the documentations on career counselling sessions to be submitted by the constituent colleges
- Preparing monthly reports of UCCC based on activities conducted in a respective month. Yearly report on UCCC to be submitted to IQAC under the information to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SVSU
- Conducting skills mapping tests / psychometric tests to ascertain right career anchors of students from the First Year onwards.
- From time to time, informing ED Cell about students having Entrepreneurship Career Anchor and Training & Placement Cell about students seeking jobs, respectively.
- Publishing bi-annually Digital news letter to disseminate the information about students’ career counselling to stakeholders
