WELLNESS CENTRE
The Wellness Centre of the University has been amongst the university’s best practices for Health Promotion with a firm belief and aim of "Health & happiness in your hands."
The activities of the Wellness Centre are planned for the promotion of mental health and well-being, creating awareness about a healthy lifestyle based on holistic health, providing lifestyle counselling at the individual level, promoting student health through yoga/pranayama and other holistic measures, and spreading awareness about the hazards of intoxicants (tobacco/alcohol/drugs/etc.).
The Wellness Centre is proactive in conducting outreach workshops on “Positive Mental Health and its Role in Career Formation” for all first-year undergraduates and first-year postgraduates across all colleges of the University. In addition, workshops are regularly conducted for all faculty, teaching, and non-teaching staff of the University.
The Wellness Centre is located near the Vice Chancellor’s office and is open to all students, faculty, and non-teaching staff who feel the need for special attention or require help in addressing their physical, mental, or emotional issues. Free counselling is provided by expert professionals including Holistic Physicians, Consultant Psychiatrists, Naturopathy & Yoga Consultants, Preventive Health Care Experts, Clinical Psychologists, etc., who form part of the Core Committee.
Students, faculty, or staff who seek support may approach the Wellness Centre directly, through their mentors, or through the Wellness Coordinator of their respective college. The expert counsellors at the Centre assess and address their concerns. Individuals requiring further care are referred to secondary or tertiary healthcare services with a detailed note and guidance.
Various activities such as yoga training camps, guest lectures, counselling sessions, and symposiums are regularly organized at the Wellness Centre with the involvement of experts for the benefit of students, faculty, and staff members.
The Chairman of the Wellness Centre is Dr. Rahul Bansal (Holistic Physician and Professor – Subharti Medical College) and the Co-Chairman is Dr. Nagaraju Kamarthi, Professor and Head – Subharti Dental College.
