Welcome to the Department of Forensic Science at the Keral Verma Subharti College of Science. Our department is dedicated to advancing our understanding of Forensic science and its applications as well as to developing innovative solutions to the challenges which facing human societies. In our department, we are offering courses as per CBCS i.e. B.Sc. Forensic Science.

We are committed to providing our students with a comprehensive education in Forensic Science that prepares them for a variety of careers in CBI, Government Forensic Laboratory, Income Tax Department, Crime Branch, Intelligence Bureau etc. 

Our curriculum is designed as per Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and investigation skills, as well as to provide a strong foundation in scientific principles under the Forensic science. We offer many opportunities to participate in research projects and internships.

Our department is also committed to engaging with the wider Forensic community. We regularly host guest lectures, seminars, and conferences, and collaborate with industry partners and government agencies to address pressing several issues which can benefitted to mankind.

Career Opportunities

  1. Crime Scene Investigator: Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) is in-charge of extracting every possible piece of evidence from a particular crime scene. As a forensic science graduate, you can choose your career as crime scene investigator.

  2. Forensic Laboratories (State & Central): Students can pursue a career in government forensic science laboratories (FSLs), including CFSLs, SFSLs, and RFSLs. Here, you analyze physical, chemical, biological, and digital evidence related to criminal cases using sophisticated instruments and scientific techniques.

  3. Law Enforcement Agencies: Students can join investigative bodies such as the CBI, NIA, IB, Police departments, or Narcotics Control Bureau, contributing your expertise in crime analysis, fingerprinting, document examination, cybercrime investigation, and more.

  4. Academia & Research: Pursuing higher studies like M.Sc., M.Phil., or Ph.D. can lead to a career in teaching and academic research. Students can work as a lecturer, assistant professor, or research associate, conduct advanced research, publish papers, and mentor students.

  5. Cyber & Multimedia Forensics: With increasing cybercrimes, theres a growing demand for professionals in cybersecurity, cyber forensics, and multimedia forensics. Students can analyze digital evidence, detect tampering, retrieve data, and assist in tracking cybercriminals.

  6. Forensic Toxicology & Drug Analysis: Work in forensic toxicology labs, narcotic control labs, or pharmaceutical industries to analyze biological samples for toxins, drugs, and poisons, helping in criminal investigations or public safety.

  7. Forensic Biology & DNA Analysis: Students can specialize in DNA fingerprinting, serology, and forensic biology to help identify individuals in criminal, civil, and paternity disputes. These roles exist in both public and private labs.

  8. Document and Fingerprint Examination: Work as a document examiner or fingerprint analyst to analyze questioned documents, handwriting, counterfeit currency, and latent prints, supporting identity verification and fraud detection.

  9. Forensic Pathologist: Forensic pathologist is a subspecialist in pathology whose area of special competence is the examination of persons who die suddenly, unexpectedly or violently. The forensic pathologist is an expert in determining cause and manner of death.

  10. Medical and Clinical Forensics: Collaborate with hospitals and medico-legal departments in dealing with cases of unnatural deaths, sexual assault, and injuries. Students may work as a forensic medical examiner or assist in postmortem analysis.

  11. Quality Assurance and Laboratory Management: Forensic graduates can work in ISO-accredited labs or industries, focusing on laboratory management, quality control, and method validation.

  12. Private Investigation & Consultancy: Work independently or with private firms providing forensic investigation services, background checks, surveillance, and fraud investigations.

  13. Forensic Startups & Entrepreneurship: With a strong foundation in forensic techniques, students can establish your own firm in areas like document verification, cybercrime consultation, forensic training, or private labs offering analytical services.
