Swami Vivekanand Subharti University upholds the motto “Education, Service, Culture, and Nationalism,” embodying a philosophy that fosters the holistic development of students and aims to cultivate ideal citizens. The University is dedicated to nurturing exemplary individuals, with the Department of Languages playing a pivotal role in this endeavour. Established in 2019 as an affiliated department, the Department of Languages has since made significant contributions to the study, teaching, and research of languages and literature.
The guiding principle of the department is inspired by a verse from the Rigveda: “आनोभद्राःक्रतवोयन्तुविश्वतः” (Let noble thoughts come to us from every side). This verse reflects the rich Indian cultural heritage, which places immense value on knowledge. Language serves as a medium through which this ideal is realised, and the Department of Languages has made exemplary efforts to promote the teaching and learning of both Indian and foreign languages.
In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the department currently offers undergraduate courses in Hindi and English. Furthermore, it offers postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes in these languages. The department also provides a variety of certificate courses in Hindi, English, Korean, and French. Notably, the certificate courses/Value added courses in Sanskrit, Hindi, English, Korean, and French are designed to enhance the linguistic proficiency of both national and international students, enabling learners from diverse backgrounds to study these languages according to their interests.
