Department of Agriculture
It’s our pleasure to welcome you at Department of Agriculture at Keral Verma Subharti College of Science. Our department is dedicated to advancing our understanding of agriculture and using that knowledge to develop sustainable and innovative solutions to the challenges facing our world. In our department, we are offering courses as per NEP B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. Animal Husbandry and B.Sc. Fisheries.
Our faculty members are experts in a variety of fields, including agronomy, soil science, horticulture, genetics and plant breeding, entomology, plant pathology, animal science, agricultural economics and extension education. We are committed to providing our students with a comprehensive and practical education in agriculture that prepares them for a variety of careers in research, industry, and policy.
Our curriculum is designed to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills, as well as to provide a strong foundation in the scientific principles that underpin agriculture. We provide exposure to the students to various extension activities, as well as opportunities to participate in research projects and internships.
The program is to get the students acquainted with various facets of agriculture and its related specializations in the well-equipped laboratories. The main aim of this program is to provide theoretical and practical knowledge to students and train them in all aspects of agriculture. Our department is also committed to engaging with the wider agricultural community. We regularly host guest lectures, seminars, and workshops, and collaborate with industry partners and government agencies to address pressing agricultural challenges.
Academic and Industrial visits to ICAR-Institutes, hands-on experience in the laboratories, experimental plots and fields within and outside the university are part of the curriculum. The department is known for its outstanding research activities particularly in the field of Plant Pathology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Agriculturally important microorganisms and other thrust areas of Agriculture.
The college has well established horticulture and agronomy setup including nurseries, green house, vermin composting units and farm lands. Faculty members are regularly involved in research projects in collaboration with government research organization such as National Research Centre for Plant Biotechnology, I.A.R.I. New Delhi. The Department ensures quality education and healthy environment for students. Excursion tours, industrial and academic visits are regularly planned for the students to have an exposure of the subject.

They may have extensive knowledge about various topics related to farming like crop cycles, soil fertility, crop rotation, soil and water problems, best practices in cultivation and harvesting, animal husbandry and nutrition. They can work in premier government and private institutions like NABARD, Amul and ITC.
