Our department is dedicated to advancing our understanding of animal biology and behavior, as well as to developing innovative solutions to the challenges facing animal and human populations. In our department, we are offering courses as per NEP B.Sc. Zoology and B.Sc. Genetics & Genomics and B.Sc. Forensic Science.

Our faculty members are experts in a wide range of fields, including animal behavior, ecology, physiology, genetics, and evolution. We are committed to providing our students with a comprehensive education in zoology that prepares them for a variety of careers in research, industry, and conservation.

Our curriculum is designed to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and research skills, as well as to provide a strong foundation in scientific principles that underpin zoology. We offer many opportunities to participate in research projects and internships.

Our department is also committed to engaging with the wider zoological community. We regularly host guest lectures, seminars, and conferences, and collaborate with industry partners and government agencies to address pressing animal and human welfare issues.

We invite you to explore and learn more about the Zoology Department at Keral Verma Subharti College of Science. Career Opportunities

Animal Biologist: An animal biologist investigates the physiology of animals and the illnesses that they are prone to. They are in charge of conducting experiments, collecting data, and proposing solutions.

Nature Conservation Officer: You can work as In-charge of protecting endangered plant and animal species, as well as their ecosystems. He suggests plans to accomplish the same goal.

Animal Behaviorist: They majorly work with domesticated animals (pets) and train their behavior. Examples of animal behaviorists include dog trainers, horse trainers, and barn/farm supervisors who care for livestock (poultry, cows, pigs, and sheep). Farm workers operate with the animals in close proximity and need to be attentive to their behavior, feeding habits, excreta, and interactions with other organisms.

Wildlife Conservationist: Conservationists work in research fields and conduct censuses for the wildlife population. They spread awareness about the importance of preserving our biodiversity and wildlife. They test water and soil pollution levels and develop methods to protect against environmental corrosion and deforestation. Wildlife Conservationists also work for endangered animals at their shelters.

Wildlife Biologist: Wildlife Biologist studies ecosystem and the interactions between the various species that cohabitate. They are observational researchers who study animals in natural/manufactured settings. They handle captured wildlife for conservational purposes and collaborate with other experts. Spreading awareness and information about the environment are also responsibilities of Wildlife Biologists.

Wildlife Rehabilitator: Their primary role involves handling and management of injured animals. A Rehabilitator assesses an organism's health and decides if it requires a Veterinarian's assistance. They nurse the animal back to health; if it can survive in the wild, they release it back to its natural habitat. They use the help of sanctuaries and protect the animal.

Zoo Curator: They are responsible for the zoo's functioning at a management level, handling facilities, and financial costs. Curators oversee and coordinate between the different staff at the zoo. They work with Wildlife Biologists, Veterinarians, and Handlers to take better care of the animals.

Academics and Research: Pursuing higher education such as a master's or Ph.D. in biotechnology can lead to opportunities in academic research. You can work as a research associate, research assistant, or pursue a career in teaching and academia.

Patent Law: With a combination of a science background and legal knowledge related to chemical inventions and work as a patent agent, attorney, or consultant. This field combines legal expertise with scientific knowledge to protect intellectual property rights.

Scientific Technical Writing: You can utilize your scientific knowledge to communicate complex ideas to a broader audience. This can involve science journalism, technical writing, content creation, or working with science-focused organizations.

Forest Officer: They are responsible for the activities done in a particular forest region. Forest Officers handle environmental and wildlife issues and avoid any disturbances between the public and other organisms. They also prevent any illegal trafficking activities in their domain. To become a Forest Officer, candidates must clear the UPSC examination and interviews to obtain the position.

Biogeographer: They are researchers who study the population density and distribution of animals in natural habitats and food network relationships. Biogeographers often work in remote conditions and analyze different ecosystems and landscapes, keep track of various organisms that dwell there, and locate environmental threats.
