The Department of Liberal Arts and Humanities is committed to quality education, academic excellence, and interdisciplinary learning, in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). The department serves as a vibrant academic space for the exchange of ideas across the humanities and social sciences, fostering critical thinking, ethical values, and social responsibility.

The department offers B.A. and B.A. (Honours) with Research, M.A., and Ph.D. programmes in Psychology, Sociology, Economics, History, and Political Science, with a strong emphasis on outcome-based education, research orientation, and contemporary relevance. All programmes follow CBCS and continuous assessment practices, integrating skill-based and multidisciplinary courses to meet academic and societal needs.

Holistic student development is promoted through vocational and skill enhancement initiatives, gender sensitization and women empowerment programmes, and active participation in NCC and NSS. Teaching–learning processes are supported by ICT-enabled pedagogy, mentoring systems, and research exposure, including opportunities for students to assist faculty in academic and research activities. Academic enrichment is further strengthened through conferences, seminars, workshops, guest lectures, cultural and sports activities.

With a committed and research-active faculty, the department strives to nurture an inclusive, learner-centric academic ecosystem, preparing students to contribute meaningfully to academia, governance, and society.
